Come out for an evening of Boricuan culture. The opening reception and new works by artist Smokie Arce entitled Lonley Boricua : Taino Series honors the Indigenous culture and the Afro-caribbean blend that the enchanted island of Puerto Rico has to offer the world. As the one year anniversary of Hurricane Maria passes , we are honored to continue the struggle of rebuilding and supporting our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico. We are taking this opportunity to continue the work locally, by presenting the art and culture of Puerto Rico as it resonates in the Bay Area. An Orisha ceremonial opening by Oya Nike will be followed by the music of Julius Melendez and his Taino “Latin” All-Stars. Also food provided by Boriqua Kitchen food truck. Partial proceeds go to rebuilding projects on the island. Come thru, Spirithaus Gallery 2217 Adeline st West Oakland. We Be Here!!!
