Thursday Oct 5: TBA PRESENTS SEASON III

The Black Aesthetic (TBA) presents SEASON III. Film screening, conversation and Q&A with film director Numa Perrier (Black&SexyTV, The Couple).

The Black Aesthetic is a creative organization, whose mission is to curate and assemble both a collective and distinct understanding of Black visual culture. By working with artists, writers, filmmakers, and designers. We cultivate work that asks our audience to consider their relationship to Black art. Based in Oakland, we are invested in developing a community who will participate and engage with our mission.

The theme for this season is “TBA”, meaning 'to be announced', 'to be assessed', and 'to be actualized'. In an interview for Film Quarterly, Michael Gillespie says, “I’m interested in the rendering of blackness or how black visual and expressive culture stages race not just as impermeable fact, but as multidimensional and multidiscursive.”
